The Pedestrian

  • What is the theme of  "The Pedestrian"?
    • the theme of the pedestrian is that in a world depending on technology  every human being is controlled by it
  • How does Bradbury get this message across?
    •   "And on his way he would see the cottages and homes with their dark windows, and it was not unequal to walking through a graveyard where only the faintest glimmers of firefly light appeared in flickers behind the windows." this is a quote from the story and it talks about the TVs turned on in the dark home.
  • How do you know?Describe the tone of the story.
    • because of the beginning of the story in the winter night, it adds to the intensity with the suspense tone as the character talk
  • Why don't more people walk in 2018?
    •  I feel like today because of technology there is plenty of things to do like watch Netflix, play fornite, etc. People don't go out to walk anymore because they have other things to entertain themselves with.
  • What do you think about self-driving cars?
    • I like the self-driving car because they can become more convenient, but recently self-driving cars have killed people but with improvement, I feel like self-driving cars will be the future.
  • Do you think that technology such as self-driving cars, screen viewers, smartphones, and earbuds lead to more freedom/independence, isolation, or both?
    •  I say both because you have freedom and independence with the resources you have and also you are isolated from humanity.
